At Blue Tiger Massage, we’re always looking for therapists who see the body differently—who are just as interested in understanding why someone is hurting as they are in helping them feel better.
That’s exactly what we found in Maggie.
Maggie’s path to massage therapy is anything but ordinary. Before becoming a Licensed Massage Therapist, she spent 15 years working in healthcare as a nurse in hospitals, acute care, home health, retirement communities, and hospice. Helping people through some of the hardest moments of their lives was deeply meaningful, but over time she found herself frustrated with a healthcare system that often treated symptoms without addressing the whole person.
Then came an unexpected career change.
She went back to school to become an auto mechanic.
“I loved working with my hands and solving problems,” Maggie says. “Massage ended up being the perfect marriage between my two careers—healthcare and mechanics. It involves caring and healing, but also problem solving and working with my hands.”
That perspective shapes every session she gives today.
A Grounded, Personalized Approach
Maggie describes her massage style as grounded, intuitive, and collaborative.
Rather than following the same routine for every client, she starts by getting to know the person in front of her. Every first appointment includes a thorough conversation about injuries, pain, stress, previous massage experiences, and personal goals.
“I believe the client-therapist relationship is extremely important,” she says. “I want us to be on the same page, working toward the same goals.”
Her work blends therapeutic techniques with deep relaxation because, as Maggie explains, “Your body won’t allow itself to let go and change unless it feels deeply relaxed.”
Using slow, focused pressure along with neuromuscular techniques such as trigger point therapy and PNF stretching, she works with the body—not against it—to encourage lasting change.
Helping People Living with Chronic Pain
While Maggie enjoys working with clients from all walks of life, she’s especially drawn to people living with chronic pain, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and those experiencing massage for the very first time.
“I had never had a massage before going to massage school,” she says. “I love helping people discover the incredible benefits of bodywork.”
Whether you’re dealing with long-standing tension or simply wondering if massage could help, Maggie believes every session should feel welcoming, supportive, and individualized.
Building Trust with Your Body
One of the ideas Maggie returns to often is that our bodies are constantly working for us—even when they’re hurting.
“I wish more people understood how hard your body is working for you,” she says. “It’s easy to have an adversarial relationship with your body when you’re in pain. Part of my job is helping clients appreciate everything their body is doing to keep them upright, moving, and functioning.”
Massage, she believes, helps rebuild communication and trust between the mind and body.
More Than Just Massage
When asked what clients should know before booking with her, Maggie’s answer perfectly captures her philosophy:
“When you’re on the table, I’m in a conversation with your body. I’m asking questions and responding to the answers. My goal is to help you understand what your body is trying to tell you and to be a guide in your recovery and healing.”
It’s a collaborative process—one built on listening, curiosity, and respect for the body’s incredible ability to adapt and heal.
Outside the Treatment Room
When she’s not working with clients, Maggie stays busy raising her four daughters, whose ages range from 12 to 25.
She also loves playing soccer, riding bikes, taking road trips, exploring new cultures through cooking (she’s currently fascinated by Chinese cuisine), and escaping to the Oregon coast whenever she gets the chance.
